About OOLiM

I’m Sinä, a pianist working mainly in the field of contemporary music.

My work explores the remarkably varied landscape of 20th- and 21st-century piano music — from experimental techniques and unfamiliar sounds to works shaped by different musical traditions and cultural contexts.

I’m particularly interested in extended piano techniques, the relationship between music and nature, and the questions that emerge through artistic research and collaboration.

Contemporary music can feel like a vast forest — rich, alive, and full of unfamiliar paths. Some music draws us in immediately; other music asks us to slow down, listen differently, or simply spend a little time with something we do not yet understand.

OOLiM grew from a wish to make a small bridge into that forest.

Rather than explaining what music should mean, I hope to offer different ways of approaching it: through performance, research, stories, images, and attentive listening. A strange sound, a composer’s idea, the call of a bird, or the hidden possibilities of a familiar instrument can each become a place to begin.

Here, I share my performances and concerts, artistic research, collaborative projects, and writing on contemporary music and sound. You’ll also find OOLiM Studio, my growing video archive of piano works from across the 20th and 21st centuries.

Perhaps you already know this forest well, or perhaps you are entering it for the first time.

Either way, you’re always welcome to wander.

Warm regards,

Sinä Hwang
